MOONLIGHT SERENADE, 2019
This old jewellery box belonged once to my grandmother. It contains a music box, which plays the melody of Moonlight Serenade, that is performed firstly in 1939 by Glenn Miller. It is a song about someone who is walking in the moonlight, longing for its loved ones. I am always thinking of my grandmother and how fragile life is.
The fragility of life is shown again by the pandemic and the lockdown of our lives: personally, culturally, globally. |
PLEASE MIND THE POSSIBLE DANGER, 2020
PLEASE MIND THE POSSIBLE DANGER is about finding yourself. It is a psychic journey into the dark corners of your own existence. To feel one’s way in the uncertain dark, without knowing where to go and come across scary things you do not understand. In this search you have to go deep into your own abysses. Nobody knows what's down there, what's lurking there. However, it seems essential to face these parts of yourself, to contemplate them and bring them into the light, even it’s just for a short moment. It stops chasing, if you acknowledge it. Are peace and advancement then possible? That hope drives us on, even though the process is incredibly painful. The objects and boxes shown in the video symbolize these hidden, crippled and angry parts that have to be confronted and given a stage to be seen. But, PLEASE MIND THE POSSIBLE DANGER!
